Precautions when storing stainless steel screws

In the production process of stainless steel screws, such as the heading process or the turning process, the surface of the screw may be stained with iron filings or some relatively small particles generated during the processing process. If these are not removed, It will affect the appearance of the screw surface or may cause the screw to rust.

Generally, this kind of surface treatment needs passivation to remove these surface impurities. If the stainless steel screw is passivated, it will not only make the surface of the screw smooth and bright, but also enhance the rust resistance and corrosion resistance of the screw. Because of different passivation treatments, the salt spray test time that can be passed is different. Some can pass 24 hours, and some can pass 1,000 hours. This requires the customer to show that he needs too much according to his own use. A long time salt spray test, otherwise the screw manufacturer will basically handle the screw according to this standard passivation treatment.

If the stainless steel screws are processed according to the standard passivation, basically only 12 hours of salt spray test can be passed. Therefore, when passivation is to be done, the customer still has to explain his requirements to the screw manufacturer, otherwise the effect may be different from what he actually needs.

Like stainless steel screws, some screw manufacturers will make inventory, so there will be a large number of finished products stacked in the warehouse, but when customers need to sell them, they will find that some stainless steel screws have been corroded. Why?

In fact, this is because stainless steel screws are corroded in a humid environment. The water vapor condensed in the air contains a large amount of fluids. When they come into contact with screws, fluid acids and oxides are formed, which chemically corrodes stainless steel screws and damages them. Its protective film causes the stainless steel screw to be oxidized and reduces its scandium corrosion ability, which leads to rust.

Therefore, when we store stainless steel screws, we must pay attention to storing stainless steel screws in a dry environment, and the packaging must be sealed. When packaging and moving, we should also try to handle them gently to avoid severe collisions. If there are other requirements, non-standard screws should be installed in a mesh bag or box to avoid collisions.

In these points, the company's inventory management must be done well. The stainless steel screws can be packed and sealed according to the quantity in a plastic bag, and then packed in a carton for sealing. They will be placed on the warehouse shelves in sequence afterwards, and they can be shipped conveniently and quickly when they are about to be shipped.
