Hollow rivets are mostly invented for the manufacture or maintenance of harness equipment. It is not very clear when the hollow rivets were invented, but saddlery was invented in the 9th or 10th century AD. The riveted harness, like the nailed horse's hoof, freed slaves from heavy labor, and rivets also led to many important inventions, such as iron pliers for copper workers and wool shears.

Solid rivets:
Use its own deformation or interference to connect the parts of the riveted parts. Solid rivets are generally made of aluminum, copper, iron and other materials, and the surface treatment is white zinc plated. A rigid connection made to the connector using rivets, which is not removable. Small rivets can be riveted cold, and large rivets are hot riveted in a red-hot state. Solid rivets can be widely used in knives, stationery account books, locks, helmets, automobile hardware bags, baby carriages, automobile clutch steel plates, motorcycle accessories and household appliances.

Hollow rivets:
It needs to be riveted with a riveting machine (equipment). After riveting, the back is turned over to fit the flat rivets. The hollow rivet is composed of a hollow rivet body and a rivet mandrel. The hollow rivet body is composed of a shaft portion and a flange at one end of the shaft portion; the head formed on one end of the mandrel is inserted into the rivet body on the opposite side of the flange of the rivet body. The position of the end of the shaft portion causes the shaft portion of the mandrel to break from the small-diameter fractured portion and perform strong stretching, so that the shaft portion of the rivet body expands in diameter and deforms, and the deformed shaft portion and flange are mounted on the panel, etc. components are installed. Hollow rivets are light in weight and weak in head, and are used for riveting of non-metallic materials with small loads.
